Government & Community Relations

We need your help!

We need the help of Cornell’s alumni and friends in communicating how proposed legislation would impact Cornell and other institutions of higher education. Please join our Legislative Advocacy Network and contact your elected state and federal representatives to urge them to preserve core state and federal support for Cornell and higher education.

About Us

Welcome to the Office of Government and Community Relations at Cornell University. We serve as liaison between Cornell and government at the state, federal and community levels. Working from offices on campus, in Albany, and in Washington, D.C., we:

  • Inform the Cornell community about relevant federal and state government actions.
  • Strive to influence such actions when the university's interests may be affected.
  • Review federal and state legislation, executive orders, and regulations, and assess their potential impact on the university community.
  • Represent Cornell's interests to the legislative and executive branches of the federal, state and local governments.
  • Advocate on matters of importance to the higher education community and in support of Cornell's educational, research and public service missions.
  • Work with communities that might be affected by Cornell projects, gathering their input to ensure mutual success.
  • Partner with educational institutions and communities throughout the region to help improve the quality of life.
